We are just a family from Indiana who loves adventure and new experiences. We’re starting this blog to show other families that travel with kids isn’t as difficult as it seems. I (Lisa) work as a sonographer for high risk obstetrical patients and Paul (husband) is a firefighter/paramedic. We are just normal people with normal jobs. We’re not wealthy but find a way to make our travel dreams come true. We’re here to help inspire other families to do the same. We feel that traveling to places unfamiliar to where you live, experiencing different cultures, speaking to people who live differently than you, makes you a kinder and more understanding of difference. Reading about places or watching them on tv has a much different effect. Feeling the energy, tasting the food, interacting with the people changes you.
I have always had the yearning to travel, almost an obsession to be honest. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark sent me dreaming of far away places and the exotic unknown. I was hooked on the idea of new and sometimes uncomfortable experiences. Fortunately for me, I met someone willing to share my passion with. I had traveled fairly extensively prior to kids…. and Paul. Yes, traveling with kids is different than with just adults but equally rewarding. Seeing everything new through the eyes of kids makes everything better.
I have been contemplating this blog for many years and have finally gotten the time to start it. We began traveling as a family when my son was 6 months old. He is now 12. I have a lot of writing to do, more to come!!
